Performs gross dissection, dictation, microscopic examination, frozen section cases, clinical histories and examination summaries. Assists with histology preparation of specimens.ResponsibilitiesTechnical DutiesAccurately processes surgical pathology specimens including properly fixing, cutting, photographing, and sectioning of surgical specimensTechnical/Professional DutiesWrites and maintains procedures of section in compliance with CAP guidelinesQualityInvestigate and document problems with unacceptable specimensProblem SolvingFollows established guidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent or specimen problemsRegulation ComplianceComplies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safetyPeopleParticipates in staff meetings, helps promote effective working relationshipsCustomer ServiceUses Patient/Family center values/Conducts all work activities with respect of the rights and wishes of patients, visitors and patients familiesOther DutiesMonitor Copath interfaces for proper performanceQualificationsBachelor's Degree in biology and successful completion of an accredited Pathologist's Assistant programThree to six months job related experience to become familiar with a variety of procedures, techniques and equipment used in performing activitiesYNHHS Requisition ID 162438
